AUTUMN SHOW SCHEDULE 2010

  

DIVISION A - VEGETABLES

Class

1.       4 white potatoes: any shape

2.       4 coloured potatoes: any shape

3.       5 stump rooted carrots

4.       3 long or intermediate carrots i.e. pointed type

5.       3 parsnips

6.       4 beetroot

7.       9 shallots: diameter not to exceed 30mm

8.       9 shallots: size unlimited

9.       5 onions grown from sets

10.   5 onions grown from seed, not to exceed 3"

11.   3 large onions, exceeding 3”

12.   3 leeks

13.   5 dwarf beans

14.   8 runner beans

15.   3 courgettes: length 4"- 6", excluding stalk

16.   1 pair of marrows: length not to exceed 15", excluding stalk

17.   2 cabbages with minimum 2.5" stalk

18.   2 ridge cucumbers

19.   2 frame or greenhouse cucumbers

20.   2 hearted lettuces

21.   5 tomatoes, complete with stalk to first elbow

22.   10 cherry or small plum tomatoes, complete with stalk to first elbow

26.   Collection of culinary herbs: any three varieties to be exhibited in a vase and arranged for visual effect

28.   Vegetable Collection: 4 distinct kinds: numbers as classes 1-24, base area not to exceed 24" x 30"

NOTE: Two kinds of the same vegetable cannot be included in classes 27 and 28; ie stump rooted and long carrots

29.   A collection of home grown vegetables displayed in a trug or basket and arranged for visual appeal. Parsley may be added if desired but no artificial aids

 

 
 

DIVISION B -  FRUIT

30.   4 cooking apples, same variety

31.   4 dessert apples, same variety

32.   2 bunches grapes, any varieties

DIVISION C - FLOWERS AND POT PLANTS

DIVISION D - NOVICE SECTION

A "novice" has never won any prize in any show in the class they are entering.

 

70.   3 potatoes: one variety, any colour, any shape

71.   3 beetroot

74.   3 tomatoes

75.   Collection of one specimen vegetable from any 4 of classes 1-24 (maximum of 5 points for each item)

76.   A specimen rose

77.   A vase of 3 stems of flowering, berried or foliage shrubs (any combination)

79.   Annual: 3 stems, one or more varieties

 

 

DIVISION E – DOMESTIC

80.   A mixed fruit cake. Any recipe, any size, any shape

81.   A quiche of any variety using home-made pastry. Any size

82.   A  plate of five ginger-nut biscuits

83.   A  plate of five fruit scones

84.   A  tea plate of vanilla fudge

85.   A  jar of lemon curd

86.   A  jar of stone fruit jam

87.   A  jar of chutney ( any variety )

 

NOTE:

Jars to be standard shape, either 12oz or 1lb size and unmarked, i.e. no trade names or decorative covers.  They should be correctly sealed and clearly labelled.  Cover cookery exhibits with clingfilm.


 

DIVISION F - CHILDREN'S SECTION: 15 YEARS AND UNDER

88.   “Space Station Garden” -  An arrangement on a large plate using your imagination to create a space-age garden

89.   A Victoria sponge sandwich cake with jam filling, iced or plain, that you have made yourself

90.    “Fruits and Berries” -  An arrangement, in a vase, of twigs and small branches bearing autumn leaves and fruits

91.   A photograph of something you did, or somewhere you went during the summer holidays

92.   A sunflower head you have grown yourself

 

 

DIVISION G - NOVELTIES

93.   A plate of 4 fruit muffins (any type of fruit) (Male competitors only)

94.   Longest runner bean

95.   Heaviest onion

96.   Heaviest marrow

97.   Heaviest truss of tomatoes (including green)

98.   Heaviest carrot

99.   Heaviest pumpkin

100. Any other heavy vegetable

101. 3 Eggs on a plate, from your own birds (one egg to be broken for display)

 

 

DIVISION H - FLORAL ART

102. “Glowing Embers “ -  An exhibit of flowers and foliage  incorporating  fiery autumn hues .  To be staged in a niche.  Space allowed : Width 24”, Depth 24”, Height 31”

103. A bowl of flowers , grown in your own garden and / or allotment.  No more than 15” overall

104. An arrangement using a candle in a candle-holder and fresh flowers and foliage. Any size, any shape

105. A petite arrangement in a liqueur-glass.  No more than 10” overall
